Critical Items
Frame
- Critical- Check toilet locations are accurate and centered in the space (prevents damage to the flooring from jackhammering concrete)
- TEMP HEAT- Hvac Rough in Winter ALL TEMP THERMOSTATS SHOULD BE 70 degrees
HVAC Start Up
- Tell vinyl installer HVAC has started running
Plumbing
- TEMP HEAT- Plumber must turn off gas for inspection the morning of the inspection. It must not be turned off overnight.
- Gas inspection has passed AND gas is back on
Cover the slab
- Cover the foundation in vinyl areas. Creating a clean surface for the vinyl floor to be installed.

Acclimation
- Check moisture is at or below 4.4 MC or 7% with a coach provided Tramex concrete meter.
- Thermostat is set at 79 Degrees. Lock all three settings on ECObee thermostat (home, away, and sleep)
- HVAC has to be operational between 70-75°F for 72 hrs. prior to installation
- Acclimate the flooring in the home for 48 hrs. minimum BEFORE installation, DURING installation, and AFTER installation
- During acclimation, all doors and windows must be closed throughout the entire process so that the home maintains the required temperature and constant relative humidity.

- Concrete should be clean, dry, and level.
- Vinyl is stacked no more than 3 boxes high inside home

Preparation
- Floor is scraped free of any paint around baseboards and door casings
- Floor is free of debris and high low spots, use straight edge
- All concrete soft cut joints are cleaned out and filled with UZIN 886 skim compound and sanded
- Low spots and divots must be raised up with UZIN NC 886 skim coat compound so that the surface of the foundation is as level as possible
- High spots must be ground down
- The entire area receiving vinyl plank, must be sanded smooth with a 16 Grit Sanding Disk. All control joints must be cleaned out and filled in with UZIN NC 886 skim coat compound. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the compound to dry.
- The foundation must be at least 80 % visible after texture and paint are removed.

- After sanding is complete all floors have been swept and vacuumed
- Where vinyl flooring is applied, baseboards are lowered to 1/8" AFF.
- Vinyl LVT plank should be installed using trowel noted on PO
- The floor should be rolled, and cross rolled with a 100 lb roller.
- Install plank products should have a minimum of 6 – 8" seam stagger.
- Resilient vinyl floor is installed with no tolerance for gaps between planks.

- Soft Cuts must be cleaned out and filled with UZIN 886 skim compound and sanded
- Filling the soft cuts with glue or not sanding the skim compound results in the soft cut "telegraphing" through the vinyl. This means you can see it through the vinyl.
Installation
- Floors are swept day of install
- Trowel size is
- Trowel is replaced every 1600 sqft 800 sq ft per side
- Teeth on trowel need to be visible
- Trowel is cleaned with hot water after each application
- Towel is held at a 90 degree angle when applied
Installation: Glue
- The installer will only spreads enough glue that the vinyl flooring can be installed within 2 hours.
- The glue is spread using a 680-FFA 1/32 x 1/16 x 1/32 V notch (1/32” U shaped trowel) and allowed to dry for 20-30 minutes.
- Glue is never applied and left overnight
- Glue is ready for vinyl when fingers can touch glue without transfer

Other Tips:
- After each 2-hour section is complete the vinyl flooring will need to be rolled and cross rolled with a 100lb. roller. You can never over roll the vinyl.
- Fans are not blowing directly on glue.
- Vinyl floor should be laid in the direction of the arrow on the bottom of the plank
- Vinyl floor is to be laid front to back of home (cottage, comfort, Classic)
- Vinyl floor is to be laid towards kitchen and the fireplace (Grands)
- Vinyl floor is to be rolled with 100 lbs. roller in both directions.
- No gaps in vinyl floor are present
- Thermostat remains between 70 – 75 degrees minimum for 48 hours
- All windows and doors remain closed
- Flooring is caulked around the perimeter, baseboards, cabinets and door jambs

- After vinyl installation is complete, the installer will use caulk to fill in the gaps where the planks are separated no more than the thickness of a credit card and also caulk against the cabinets.
