You will see cracking around the brick arches if the arch is not built correctly
- Brick ties are critical. If the arch is bricked in between the two columns and there are no brick ties, it could be a fall risk. So, it is critical that there are sufficient brick ties for arches.
- The brick of the arch should sit inside the pocket created on the perpendicular wall.
- DO NOT build the wall first and then butt the arch to it. It HAS to sit on top of the brick pocket, or it will crack.
